Book: If You Give A Mouse A Pancake by Laura Numeroff 

Medium: Recycled Paper, Drawing Pencils, Crayons

Art Skills: Papermaking, Drawing

Artspeak: Paper Pulp, Line, Shape, Color

Snack: Cookie Crisp Cereal, Capris Sun or Water

Students will explore art stations as they learn about papermaking and drawing. Stations will include tracing shapes, making paper, and using a variety of drawing materials to add color. Instructors will guide students through creating their own drawing of a piggy-eating handmade paper pancakes (Chocolate Chips optional).

Book: The Very Lonely Firefly by Eric Carle

Medium: Mixed Media Collage, Acrylic Paint 

Art Skills: Sculpting, Painting, Embellishing  

Artspeak: Form (Cylinder, Cube, Cone, Sphere) Sculpting

Snack: Ritz Crackers, Capris Sun or Water

 

Students will explore art stations as they learn about sculpting forms, and painting. Stations will include learning to sculpt forms and drawing. Instructors will guide students through creating their own firefly-filled Mason jar collage. The students will sculpt fire fireflies and they will illuminate with glow-in-the-dark clay.

Medium: Ceramic Clay

Art Skills: Sculpting  

Artspeak: Sculpting, Texture, Pinch Pot, Glaze

Snack: Popcorn, Capri Sun or Water

 

Students will explore art stations as they learn about sculpting. Stations will include sculpting skills to add texture, pinching the clay, and painting. Instructors will guide students through creating their own pinch pot popcorn container.

Students will explore art stations as they learn about painting. Stations will include painting skills, stencils, and embellishing. Instructors will guide students through creating their own Rainbow Fish on Canvas.

Artspeak: Mixed Media, Drawing, 3D Design

Snack: Cheezits, Capris Sun or Water

 

Students will explore art stations as they learn about 3D design. Stations will include drawing, cutting, and gluing. Instructors will guide students through creating a mouse face with mixed media. Students will learn about the art concepts of three dimensional art.
