2026 Summer Art Camps

Kids & Teens • For ages 6-14

All Camps Tuition includes Art Material Fee.​

​Important Information:

​

  • These are drop-off camps located at SPLAT - 1669 East Derry Road, Hershey, PA 

  • Please dress-for-a-mess and wear closed-toed shoes! Safety first please - Children should not wear sandals or flip-flops in the studio.

  • Kids & teens are welcome to bring to camp a water bottle and snack. Please label all items with their name.

  • SPLAT Studio has a fenced in outdoor learning area. Weather permitting, we often engage our students in outdoor creative activities. Please apply sunscreen prior to arrival.

  • Drop-off for all camps is 5 minutes before the camp starts and following camp we request prompt pick up to avoid being charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute. Staff will manage dismissal ensuring that each child is paired with the adult providing their transportation. Please advise the staff daily if there are any changes regarding pick-up, drop-off, or if there are concerns pertaining to allergies or medical needs.

​ALL DAY CAMPER BONUS - Participants who are signed up for both morning and afternoon camps during any week can stay for our Lunch Bunch hour between classes with no extra fee. 

If your child is participating in a 1/2 day camp, extend their stay at the studio by an hour when you add our Lunch Bunch opportunity. Kids come with their packed lunch & enjoy games and crafts together. Please click the link below to learn more!​​

Week One

 

Captain’s Cardboard Cruiser.jpeg

Title: Captain’s Cardboard Cruiser

Dates & Time: June 9, 10, & 11 from 9:30-11:30 am

Ages: 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

 

Set sail on a creative adventure in Captain’s Cardboard Cruiser 3-D Sculpture Camp! Young builders will transform ordinary cardboard into extraordinary ships, submarines, and imaginative ocean vessels. Using recycled materials, paint, and simple sculpture techniques, campers will design, build, and decorate their very own 3-D cardboard cruisers while learning about shape, structure, and creative problem-solving. Along the way, they’ll add fun details like sails, flags, and sea creature companions. By the end of camp, every captain will launch a one-of-a-kind cardboard masterpiece and a big imagination ready for the next voyage!​​

In Board-Built Buddy Cardboard Sculpture Camp, young artists will bring their favorite animals to life using sturdy cardboard and creative imagination! Campers will design paper-doll-style animal characters such as playful penguins, happy horses, creative crabs, or magical creatures. Then build them as standing cardboard sculptures with movable parts and fun accessories. Along the way, they’ll learn how to work with balance and support so their cardboard buddies can stand strong on their own. Using drawing, cutting, painting, and decorating techniques, kids will explore how to turn flat shapes into lively 3-D creations full of personality. By the end of camp, each artist will have a unique cardboard animal friend ready to stand, pose, and show off its style!

Week Two

Title: Pet Portrait

Dates & Time: June 16, 17, & 18 from 9:30-11:30 am

Ages 6 to 14  Tuition: $155

​In Canvas Pet Portrait Camp, artists will paint a colorful acrylic portrait of a pet they love or one they dream of having! Using an 8 x 10 photo reference that each child brings to camp, students will learn how to sketch their pet onto canvas and paint it using bright acrylic colors. To make their artwork pop, campers will design a fun neon pattern background filled with bold shapes and glowing colors that highlight their pet’s personality. Along the way, they’ll explore basic painting techniques, color mixing, and creative expression. By the end of camp, each artist will take home a vibrant pet portrait that celebrates their favorite furry (or scaly or feathered!) friend!

Title: Pattern & Paint Playground

Dates & Time: June 16, 17, & 18 from 12:30-2:30 pm

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155


In Pattern & Paint Playground, artists will dive into a colorful world of acrylic painting and texture exploration! Campers will experiment with texture mediums, combs, and creative tools to drag, swirl, and press exciting patterns into paint, creating their own decorative papers. Once their patterned surfaces are dry, young artists will use them as inspiration and materials to design imaginative artworks—anything from animals and landscapes to abstract creations. Along the way, campers will discover how texture, color, and pattern can transform simple materials into unique works of art full of personality and creativity.

Title: Mind-Craft Mosaic

Dates & Times: June 23, 24 & 25 from 9:30-11:30 am 

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

In Mind-Craft Mosaic Camp, artists will turn tiny square ceramic tiles into colorful “pixels” to design a mosaic animal of their choice! Inspired by pixel-style creativity, campers will plan their animal design, choose vibrant tile colors, and carefully arrange the tiles to build their image one square at a time. Along the way, they’ll learn the basics of mosaic art, including pattern planning, color placement, and working with simple tools and adhesives. By the end of camp, each artist will have a bold, pixel-inspired mosaic animal masterpiece made from ceramic tiles to proudly display at home.

Title: Dip-n-Dot Design

Dates & Time: June 23, 24 & 25 from 12:30-2:30 pm

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

Dip-n-Dot Design Camp invites artists to explore the fun of pottery painting through colorful dot patterns! Campers will start with a ceramic tile that already features a line-drawn image, then use skewers and other simple tools to dip and place painted dots that fill the design with texture and style. Along the way, artists will learn basic color theory as they mix and choose color palettes that make their patterns pop. By layering dots, repeating patterns, and experimenting with spacing and color combinations, campers will transform their tiles into vibrant, decorative works of art they’ll be proud to display.

Please note that the ceramic tiles will be ready for pick-up in the studio the week of July 14. Refer to our hours of operation for times available to stop in and pick up your child's artwork.

Week Four

 

Freedom, Fairness, & the Future

Title: Freedom, Fairness & the Future

Dates & Time: June 30, July 1, & 2 from 9:30-11:30 am

Ages 6 to 14​ • Tuition: $155

 

In this creative collage lesson inspired by the United States Declaration of Independence, students explore the meaning of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” through a modern lens. Working individually and in small groups, children ages 6–14 reflect on how these powerful words connect to kindness, inclusion, safety, opportunity, and community today. Through discussion and hands-on artmaking, students create meaningful “Voices of Freedom” collages that express their personal vision for a fair and hopeful future.

Title: Liberty Lines & Landscapes- Printmaking

Dates & Time: June 30, July 1, & 2 from 12:30-2:30 pm

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

 

​In Liberty Lines & Landscape Printmaking Camp, artists will explore the art of printmaking while creating bold images inspired by familiar North American landscapes. Campers will design and cut their own images from foam printing sheets, then use tool of the art like brayers, bench plates, and ink to roll color and transfer their designs onto paper. Along the way, they’ll learn how lines, shapes, and textures can capture mountains, forests, rivers, and open skies. By experimenting with color, layering, and repeated prints, artists will discover how one design can produce many unique artworks. Each camper will leave with a collection of striking landscape prints and new printmaking skills.​

Week Five

 

Warp, Weft, & Weave.jpeg

Title: Warp, Weft, & Weave

Dates & Time: July 7, 8, & 9 from 9:30-11:30 am

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

 

In this hands-on textile art class, students ages 6–14 explore the fundamentals of weaving by creating a colorful mini tapestry in an embroidery hoop. Using yarn, ribbons, fabric strips, and beads children learn to work with warp (vertical threads) and weft (horizontal threads) to design patterns, textures, and layered effects. This project encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and an understanding of how simple elements combine to make complex, beautiful designs. Finished hoops can be displayed as wall art, allowing each student to share their unique vision of color, pattern, and personal expression.​

Title: Burlap & Bobbins

Dates & Time: July 7, 8, & 9 from 12:30-2:30 pm

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

 

In Burlap & Bobbins, artists will explore the basics of hand sewing while creating colorful yarn designs on burlap and frames. Campers will learn simple stitches and sewing techniques using yarn and large needles as they stitch bright colors through burlap to form patterns, shapes, and playful pictures. Along the way, they’ll discover how texture and color can transform fiber materials into unique works of art. By the end of camp, each child will have a handcrafted burlap design full of personality and new confidence in creative hand sewing and textile art.

Title: Tasty Trio- Watercolor Food Fun

Dates & Time: July 14, 15, & 16 from 9:30-11:30 am

​Ages: 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

​

In this playful watercolor class, students will create a set of three mini paintings that share a common food theme, such as popcorn, salt, and butter, eggs, toast, and bacon, or donut, cupcake, and cookie. Children practice basic watercolor techniques like blending, layering, and color mixing while exploring shapes, textures, and composition. By linking their three paintings through a single theme, students learn how to create a cohesive series while expressing creativity and fun. The finished trio can be displayed together as a vibrant, mouthwatering gallery of student artwork.​​

Title: Splat & Splash: Textured Watercolor Creations

Dates & Time: July 14, 15, & 16 from 12:30-2:30 pm 

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition $155

​In this experimental watercolor class, students ages 6–14 explore texture and color using unconventional tools like salt, bubble wrap, and plastic wrap. Children create multiple abstract watercolor sheets, experimenting with layering, resist techniques, and texture effects. Once the sheets are dry, students cut and assemble them into new artworks, discovering how spontaneous textures can inspire patterns, shapes, and creative compositions. This lesson encourages play, experimentation, and seeing ordinary materials in exciting, artistic ways.

Title: Tales on Tails: Clay Animals

Dates & Time: July 21, 22, & 23 from 9:30-11:30 am

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

In this hands-on clay lesson, students will create imaginative animals and decorate their backs with stories, patterns, or scenes. Using basic handbuilding slab techniques like pinching, scoring, using slip, and smoothing, children design creatures that are real, fantastical, or somewhere in between. The backs of the animals become a canvas for storytelling, showing where the animal lives, what it loves, or an adventure it might have. This project encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and narrative thinking, resulting in whimsical sculptures that combine art and imagination in a playful, memorable way.

Please note that the ceramic sculpture will be ready for pick-up in the studio the week of August 11. Refer to our hours of operation for times available to stop in and pick up your child's artwork.​

Title: Summertime Sculpt

Dates & Time: July 21, 22, & 23 from 12:30-2:30 pm

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

In this fun polymer clay lesson, students will create miniature sculptures inspired by summer, including bugs, ice cream, and beach-themed objects. Using polymer clay, children will sculpt small items like ladybugs, seashells, popsicles, and ice cream cones that can be transformed into keychains, pendants, or zipper pulls. This project encourages fine motor skills, creating basic form, creativity, and attention to detail while allowing students to design practical, wearable, or functional art. Finished pieces will be baked and then can be displayed, shared, or used in everyday life.​

Title: Felt & Flourish: Canvas Banner

Dates & Time: July 28, 29, & 30 from 9:30-11:30 am

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

In this Felt & Flourish Canvas Banner Camp, artists will explore the elements of art while designing a colorful mixed-media canvas. Campers will cut soft felt into shapes and layer them onto canvas to build lines, shapes, and texture, then use paint to add vibrant color, pattern, and background space that brings their design to life. As they arrange and glue their felt pieces, artists will experiment with balance, contrast, and composition to create a bold and imaginative artwork. By the end of camp, each child will have a unique textured canvas banner combining fabric and paint in a creative, eye-catching design.​​

In this camp, students will learn how to draw their own portrait. They will discover proportion through comparison of the size or shape of their facial features.

​

*Note: Students will need to bring an 8 ½” x 11” copy of a photo of themself to camp.

Title: Campfire Creations- Mixed Media

Dates & Time: August 4, 5, & 6 from 9:30-11:30 am

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

In Campfire Craft Creations Camp, artists will explore the spirit of outdoor adventure while creating imaginative mixed-media art inspired by camping. Campers will use paint, polymer clay, and natural materials like tree branches, rocks, and other nature finds to build creative scenes featuring glowing campfires, woodland animals, cozy tents, and starry night skies. As they layer materials and experiment with color, texture, shape, and composition, young artists will discover how natural elements can become part of their artwork. By the end of camp, each camper will have a one-of-a-kind camping-themed masterpiece that captures the warmth and wonder of gathering around a campfire.

Title: Tic-Tac-Toe- Game Creation

Dates & Times: August 18, 19, & 20 from 12:30-2:30 pm

Ages 6 to 14 • Tuition: $155

 

In Tic-Tac-Toe Time artists will design and create their own colorful tic-tac-toe game set from start to finish. Campers will use acrylic paint to transform smooth rocks into fun game pieces and paint a canvas board that becomes their game surface. They’ll also decorate a matching storage bag to keep their set together. Each artist can choose a creative theme, such as a painter’s palette, animals, emojis, or imaginative designs, while exploring color, pattern, and composition. By the end of camp, campers will take home a handmade tic-tac-toe game that’s both a piece of art and a fun game to play with family and friends.

Lunch Bunch

Have your artist(s) stay at SPLAT for Lunch!

 

In the hour between our morning and afternoon camps for kids and teens, we spend an hour eating, playing games, and creating.

​

​

​​

  • Lunch bunch hour takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday that our Kids and Teens camps are held from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm.

​

  • Artists who are enrolled in both the morning and afternoon camps during the same week are automatically registered for Lunch Bunch free of charge. These children should not be registered using the button below.

​

  • Artists who are enrolled exclusively in a morning or afternoon class can be registered to stay for Lunch Bunch for $15 per day/per child or $39 for all 3 days. Click the button below to register your child(ren) for Lunch Bunch. Checkout will prompt you to register for either an AM or PM Camp - please choose the appropriate date/camp time for your child if you purchase individual dates (at $15 per day), or - choose all 3 days (for $39).​​

  • When registered for Lunch Bunch, afternoon camp drop-off time shifts to 11:30 AM instead of 12:30 PM

  • When registered for Lunch Bunch, morning camp pick-up time shifts to 12:30 PM instead of 11:30​ AM

  • Please Note:

    • Families must provide lunch for their own children

    • We recommend packing lunch in disposable bags/containers.​

    • Please remember to label your child's lunch before bringing it to the studio.

    • If lunch boxes are left at the studio, they will be donated after our last camp is held.
